My second chance to secure my spot at the MGAWC couldn’t have gone much worse. Perfect weather, solid course conditions, shitty golf. We started on 18. After a good 5 wood off the tee and 6 iron from the fairway I was lying 2 with 60 yards to the green. It’d take me 6 more shots from there starting my day with a triple. That was how the rest of the day would go.
I struggled to string two good shots in a row together. When I put two good ones together I couldn’t find my touch on the green. I carded a couple of pars but couldn’t leave myself close enough for a decent birdie opportunity. It was the most frustrated I’ve been on the course in awhile.
Unlike my struggles with the turf back home, I had no excuse today. I felt like I was swinging fine.
I shot 100. First time in a long time I’ve posted a number that high. Sometimes I wonder why I enjoy this stupid game.
It turned out most of the group struggled to play golf today. A tie at 87 resulted in a playoff for the champ. Quite a few of our better golfers were well into the 90s. My 100 was good enough for 15th place and a check for $.04. I might drop out of the top 10 after this showing. Next stop Sunridge for the MGA.
Top 10 or bust!
